Chester County Technical College High School

The Technical College High School (TCHS), Pennock's Bridge Campus, is a public high school specializing in Career and Technical Education (CTE) and available for students in grades 9 through 12. CTE programs prepare students for success in college, the workplace and life. All CTE programs at TCHS are designated as High Priority Occupations (HPO) by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, and are aligned with the Pennsylvania State Academic Standards and national industry certifications. TCHS, Pennock's Bridge Campus, has a staff committee devoted to increasing the number of girls in nontraditional CTE programs. The goal is to increase the percentage of girls in nontrad CTE Programs of Study to 19%. In 2010-11 the Chester County Perkins Consortium contracted with the National Alliance for Partnerships in Equity (NAPE), formed the Nontrad Improvement Committee and completed an initial round of the 5-Step Program Improvement Process for Equity. Two events were held as a result of root cause analysis: a counselor breakfast featuring a panel of CTE majors from nontrad programs, and a Focus Your Future event, which invited 8th grade students and their parents to meet adult and student role models from nontraditional careers in an informative, fun, hands-on evening event.
