2016 Young Innovators Quest

The Young Innovators Quest (YiQ) summer program provides opportunities for high school students interested in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) and medicine to conduct research and explore ways to enhance their creativity in a motivating, hands-on environment. The central theme of this program is innovation and discovery. Over 150 hours are dedicated to STEM workshops and seminars, laboratory experiments, project work, and industry visits. Students stay at the campus dorms for a week and learn about campus life. Through this experience participants are expected to develop skills that are valuable in college and in the workforce. All students present their projects to the community. Diversity, mentorship, scholarship, teamwork, communications, analytical processes, and engaging interactions are highly valued in this program. Participants who have completed this program report a higher sense of confidence, improved problem solving skills, higher intrinsic motivation, having a better understanding of the variety and particularities of STEM careers, and a desire to pursue a career in STEM.
