 Join the National Girls Collaborative in partnership with Museumexpert.org on April 28 at 11:00 am Pacific | 2:00 pm Eastern to hear from a panel of former museum education staff on how they were able to transition their experience and skills in informal STEM education to careers outside the field. We will also be joined by an executive recruiter to discuss what you can do to market yourself for success.

Panelists include:  

Gerri Trooskin, Director of Partnerships, Center for Data Driven Discovery in Biomedicine at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Gerri is the Director of Partnerships for the Center for Data Drive Discovery in Biomedicine at  The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Previously, she was the Founding Director of the Philadelphia Science Festival and Director of Museum Programs and Outreach Initiatives at The Franklin Institute, a science museum in Philadelphia, PA. Gerri is passionate about building multi-institutional, city-wide, and nationwide initiatives through collective vision, cultivating mutually beneficial partnerships to enliven the community and galvanize staff around a shared mission. 

Eric Raya Steinbeiss, Manager of STEM Programs at Girls Inc. of Metro Denver

Eric is currently the Manager of STEM Programs at Girls Inc. of Metro Denver. He grew up in the Los Angeles suburbs before attending the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned a B.S. in Environmental Science, Policy, and Management. Eric has a long history working in museums and informal science education having held positions at the Headlands Institute, California Academy of Sciences, and the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. While Eric has an extensive history of organizing special events, along with community fairs and festivals he is especially passionate about creating opportunities and mentoring youth who are underrepresented in STEM fields.  His position with Girls Inc. Metro Denver allows him to successfully combine his dedication to youth mentoring and extensive knowledge of informal education.  In his spare time, Eric loves to camp and explore the beauty of our natural world with his new husband, Matt, and pup, Charlie. 

Mimi Fuchs, GAAAN Graduate Fellow Systems Engineering at Drexel University and If/Then Ambassador

Prior to JCMT, she worked in telescope operations and public outreach for the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory's Submillimeter Array. Before moving to the Big Island of Hawai'i, Mimi enjoyed making science exciting and accessible as a Science Interpreter at The Franklin Institute and as an educator at The Museum of Life and Science (Durham, NC). She received her B.A. in astrophysics from Haverford College and is currently a GAANN graduate fellow in Systems Engineering at Drexel University. Mimi Fuchs is a former Telescope Systems Specialist for the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope (JCMT).

Pamela Robinson is an Executive Recruiter and Talent Acquisition Manager who has over 13 years of recruiting experience.  While the majority of her recruiting and leadership knowledge has come from helping companies build and develop their teams, she is passionate about helping those who are transitioning to a new career.  Pamela understands the obstacles, both real and perceived, that those who are starting a new chapter experience.  She provides guidance based on data, industry knowledge and her own experiences.
